In 1986 Brian Kirk invited me to submit a short piece for his burdgeoning Moot Comics line. The result was Rejects # 1. This cruel bit of slapstick was the first of several Dr. Pain tales. There never was a Rejects # 2.
I highly recommend visiting the Moot Comic site and perusing Brian's brilliant and surreal Ubiquitous Funnies back catalog.
Alright, this is really stupid. I believe one critic in a small press review referred to it as "one big dirty joke."  What can I say, it was the 80's, and the drugs back then were really good. To be honest I don't even remember drawing it.
This book was banned from a comic shop in a mall. I guess a cover featuring a distended vagina might be considered inappropriate to some mothers bringing their little ones into a funny-book store. For the record I am not mysogynistic and have no hostile prejudices towards pregnant women. Anyway, the doctor's further adventures were slightly less offensive, but more bizarre. Please continue.
